During the exciting Gamescom 2023: Opening Night Live presentation, Frost Giant Studios has given players an exclusive look behind the scenes with the trailer “Infernal Host First Look” for free real time strategy game Stormgate. This trailer introduces players to the playable Infernal Host faction, a demonic race of alien invaders.
Tim Morten, CEO and Head of Production at Frost Giant Studios, shared his excitement in a press release: “We’re making ‘Stormgate’ for everyone who’s been waiting too long for the next big real-time strategy, including ourselves. The progress we’re sharing tonight on Opening Night Live reflects our team’s commitment to creating an immersive real-time strategy built around highly asymmetric factions that players will enjoy dominating for years.”.
The world of Stormgate takes place in a new post-apocalyptic science fantasy setting where Earth has become a battlefield between warring factions. Humanity has survived the Infernal Host’s initial invasion and is fighting to regain control. During Gamescom 2023, Frost Giant presented Shrouda faction-defining game system that separates the magical Infernal Host from their technology-based human counterparts. Shroud is a dark, turbulent field of magical energy produced by key Infernal structures, and many Infernal units gain significant advantages when fighting in Shroud.
The trailer also revealed three key Infernal units: the worker Imp, the Fiend, and the Brute. The Imp is the beloved Infernal worker unit with big, adorable ears, responsible for gathering resources and summoning Infernal structures. Additionally, the Brute is a powerful two-headed ogre unit that can split into two swift Fiends after dealing massive damage.
In addition to these exciting reveals, Frost Giant Studios announced that famed Grammy-winning DJs and producers The Chainsmokers are consulting on the game’s soundtrack. Stormgate will feature a team of composers acclaimed for their work on other real-time strategy games, including names like Tracy W. Bush and Frank Klepacki. In addition, talented voice actors from classic genres will also have prominent roles in Stormgate.
