‘Baldur’s Gate III’ is coming to Xbox Series

Larian Studios will launch Baldur’s Gate III for Xbox Series in 2023, the developer confirmed. The Xbox Series version will feature split-screen co-op play when played on Xbox Series X, but not when played on Xbox Series S. Cross-save progression between Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Steam will also be available.

Previously, Larian Studios had mentioned their intention to bring Baldur’s Gate III to Xbox Series, but faced technical issues, especially in implementing split-screen co-op play on Xbox Series S, as Microsoft requires feature parity for Xbox Series games. In other words, a game cannot lack a feature on Xbox Series S if it is available on Xbox Series X.

“I’m very happy to confirm that after meeting with (Microsoft Gaming boss Phil Spencer) yesterday, we have found a solution that allows us to bring Baldur’s Gate III to Xbox players later this year, something we have been working on for quite some time.” time,” Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke said in a tweet.

He continued, “All the improvements will be present, with split-screen co-op on Series X. Series S will not feature split-screen co-op, but will also include cross-save progression between Steam and Xbox Series.”

Baldur’s Gate III launched for PC and Mac via Steam and GOG on August 3, and will be available for PlayStation 5 on September 6.
