Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the next evolution of Mario fun and the first side-scrolling 2D Super Mario Bros. game in over 10 years. With a new Flower Kingdom to explore and a diverse cast of playable characters, Super Mario Bros. Wonder also introduces Wonder Flowers, game-changing items that create amazing effects that you must see to believe.

The story behind the Flower Kingdom and the threat of Bowser

In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the benevolent Prince Florian invites Mario and his friends to the Flower Kingdom, a land not so far away beyond the Mushroom Kingdom. However, Bowser, the King of the Koopas, has other plans. By simply touching the mysterious Wonder Flower, Bowser merges with Prince Florian’s castle and causes chaos on the land. Now, Mario and his friends must stop Bowser and save the Flower Kingdom.

Game Highlights

  • A kingdom full of variety: The Flower Kingdom is made up of six different worlds surrounding the Petal Islands, giving you a total of seven areas to explore. Travel across multiple islands, dive into the sea and enter caves. Each world offers a rich variety of courses and open areas on the world map.
  • Unexpected Wonder Effects: Wonder Flowers release the mysterious power of this world and create amazing effects when they bloom. Touching a Wonder Flower on a course will trigger a Wonder effect causing dramatic changes. Tubes might start moving, the terrain might tilt, your perspective might change, or you might even float through space. There are even Wonders that can transform your character into a Goomba or a Spike Ball.
  • Charismatic characters at your disposal: In addition to Mario, you can play as Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Blue Toad, Yellow Toad, and even Toadette. They all have the same abilities, so pick your favorite or mix it up with someone different. Yoshis and Nabbit won’t take damage, making them a smart choice if you’re looking for a more relaxed experience.
  • New power-ups: Super Mario Bros. Wonder features new power-ups like the Elephant Fruit, which allows Mario and some of his friends to transform into elephants. Swing your trunk to attack enemies, destroy blocks and cross large gaps. Bubble form allows you to launch floating bubbles that can capture enemies from a distance. The Drill form makes it easier to deal with prickly or hard-headed enemies and allows you to dig and move around the ground.
  • Face new enemies: As you explore the Flower Kingdom, you will encounter new and challenging enemies. The Hoppycats will copy your moves and jump when you do. Melon Piranha Plants spit seeds from their mouths. The Condarts will fly towards you and meddle in your affairs. Maw-Maws will eat anything that gets too close to their hungry mouths. There are many new enemies to discover.
  • Equip a badge for a change: As you progress through your adventure, you’ll be able to earn a variety of in-game badges, each with their own special ability. In local multiplayer, each group of players will use the same badge. Some fun options include upgrading your wall jumping skills, performing an underwater boost, doing a crouching high jump, shooting vines into the air, and becoming invisible to enemies.
  • Multiply the fun with local and online multiplayer: Up to four people can play locally on the same Nintendo Switch. If a player is defeated in local co-op play, their character will float around the course like a ghost. If another player arrives before time runs out, they will be back in the action, and the party will not lose any lives. If someone plays as Yoshi, you can jump on their back and ride them around the course. Come on! You can also play online and enjoy friendly races with other players in real time, appearing as shadows of live players. You can even help other players online by placing a standee that they can use to revive ghosts.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be available for the Nintendo Switch starting October 20. Get ready to immerse yourself in this exciting Mario adventure full of surprises and fun!
