ESRB rates PlayStation 5 versions of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and IV

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated the PlayStation 5 versions of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV, published by NIS America. These titles are already available for PlayStation 4, Switch and PC through Steam, but the PlayStation 5 versions have not yet been announced.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III – Rating and Details

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III is a role-playing game in which players follow soldiers as they try to uncover secret plots and prevent a war. From a third-person perspective, players explore fantasy environments, interact with characters, and engage in battles against enemy soldiers and creatures (e.g., fish-like monsters, robots, jaguars). Combat is turn-based, with players selecting attack moves from a menu before seeing brief scenes of their fighters slashing with swords. Some scenes show blood splatter (for example, a character with a bloody chest wound); In one sequence, blood splatter effects occur during combat with fish-like enemies. The game contains suggestive material: a character caresses the chest of a female character under her armor/chest plate, with corresponding dialogue; a student flirts with her teacher. Some scenes show characters drinking alcohol; One scene shows a character smoking a cigarette. The word “shit” is heard in the game, and a character gives it the middle finger.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV – Rating and Details

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV is a role-playing game in which players follow a group of heroes as they try to stop a war. Players explore various environments (e.g., fields, dungeons) and engage in battles against human soldiers and fantasy creatures (e.g., dragons, mechanical giants, demons). Players use swords, axes, firearms and magic to defeat enemies. Cutting sounds, light effects, and explosions stand out in turn-based combat. A character’s special attack displays great blood splatter effects as several scythes spin to attack enemies. The game contains suggestive material: dialogue such as “…you have a quite promising pair…although they pale in comparison to Emma’s”; an extended sequence in which a woman caresses another character’s chest. As players advance, they can visit a casino to play and bet on poker and blackjack games. Some sequences show a character drinking alcohol and smoking cigars, and one sequence involves a drinking competition. You hear the words “shit” and “idiot” in the game.

This ESRB rating provides players with important information about the game’s content ahead of its release on PlayStation 5, allowing them to make informed decisions about their entertainment choice.
