The editorial Fellow Traveler and the developer sunset visitor have announced a postponement in the launch of their narrative adventure game “1000xRESIST” from its previously planned 2023 release window to the first quarter of 2024. The game will be available for Switch and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Humble Store.
To give players a preview of what’s in store, a demo including the first chapter of the game is currently available for PC via Steam as part of Game Devs of Color Expo 2023.
“1000xRESIST” takes place in the distant future, where humanity has been nearly exterminated by a mysterious disease spread by aliens known only as “Occupiers.” The only survivor is a teenager named Iris, who is somehow immune. A thousand years later, Iris is not only immune but also immortal, and she has given rise to a new society of “Sisters” who consist exclusively of clones of herself. They worship her as the “ALLMOTHER” and devotedly fulfill her assigned purpose, always fearing the threat of the Occupiers on the surface.
“1000xRESIST” is a unique story that features perspective shifts, both literal and metaphorical, as the game moves between a third-person adventure, a visual novel, and a first-person walking simulator, while throwing in twists, turns, and revelations. the player until they question everything they think they know.
This game is the first project from sunset visitor, an independent studio made up mostly of creators from the Asian-Canadian diaspora with a decade of experience in dance, theater, music, film, visual arts and new media arts. “1000xRESIST” is born from an eclectic series of inspirations, including games, anime, film and theater, and tells a story in ways that only a game can offer while bringing fresh ideas to interactive storytelling.
Players take on the role of Watcher, the Sister who has the great privilege of reliving and interpreting the ALLMOTHER’s memories through a process known as Communion. However, during her first Communion, her commitment to her duty is challenged when her closest sister, Fixer, arrives with a dangerous revelation: they have been lied to. The ALLMOTHER is not what she claims to be.
“1000xRESIST” promises a 10+ hour gaming experience, with over 15,000 lines of dialogue fully voiced by a talented cast of Asian-Canadian actors and an impressive soundtrack by two composers.
Despite the postponement, fans of the narrative and adventure genre are eager to embark on this intriguing and unique experience that will arrive in the first quarter of 2024.
