New Core Decay trailer revealed at Realms Deep 2023

Publisher 3D Realms and developer Slipgate Ironworks have excited fans with a new trailer for their first-person action-adventure game, Core Decay, as part of Realms Deep 2023. This game promises to take players to a dystopian and challenging future. Here’s an overview of the game, according to the description on its Steam page:

Explore vast facilities on a dying Earth and uncover a sinister plot to preserve humanity at any cost, even if it means redefining what makes us alive.

The year is 2089, and the availability of natural resources has decreased to the point of social collapse. Nations are governed by corporations, and the planet is on the brink of an ecological collapse that could wipe out all life. In the midst of humanity’s last gasp, a network of shadowy conspirators emerges determined to save the human race using any means necessary, even if it means sacrificing everything it means to be alive.

Players will follow the trail of this mysterious organization on a dying Earth in an immersive single-player adventure with 11 locations to explore. As you traverse vast facilities, you’ll discover that combat isn’t the only way to succeed. Often, the best strategy will be to avoid hostile confrontation and find creative solutions to achieve your goals. Explore alternative routes, hack computers and security systems, discover lost records, codes and passwords, and use all the tools at your disposal to achieve your goals.

Leave a trail of destruction as you travel through mysterious facilities left by the ominous Contingency Accord and use their own weapons against them by triggering reactor core meltdowns throughout the facility.

As you navigate vast, deadly facilities, you’ll come across powerful weapons, experimental weaponry, and secret equipment. Use an arsenal of unique weapons and other combat equipment as you battle robotic security and the remains of experiments gone horribly wrong.

You are an anomaly. You wake up in a cold storage capsule with few memories of your past, and find yourself much less human than you remember and much more like a machine. With strange but powerful new abilities, you will be forced to reconcile with your new self and understand what it means to be alive.

Upgrade your body with over 100 game-changing cybernetic implants as you explore levels, defeat enemies, and gain experience. Core Decay is in development for PC via Steam, although a release date has not yet been announced.

Fans of first-person action-adventure games will certainly want to keep an eye on Core Decay, as it promises a unique experience in a dark and challenging future.
