Annapurna Interactive acquires 24 Bit Games to boost game development in South Africa


Annapurna Interactive has announced the acquisition of 24 Bit Games, based in South Africa, marking the first acquisition made by the game publisher. This acquisition will allow 24 Bit Games to expand its development team and proprietary technology tools for its customer base and future projects, while its current employees and leadership will continue to operate the business as usual.

Together, Annapurna Interactive and 24 Bit Games will continue to advance and support the South African game development industry. Deborah Mars, co-head of Annapurna Interactive, commented in a press release: “Annapurna has been working with 24 Bit for many years, and we value not only the quality of their work, but also their team. “They have always shared our commitment to quality, and by taking our partnership to the next level, we feel that anything is possible.”

24 Bit Games CEO Luke Lamothe added: “We deeply respect Annapurna’s approach to curating a portfolio of great games, its value system around building and extending intellectual property, as well as the culture of company. “We have enjoyed working together over the years, and believe we are joining Annapurna at an exciting time of growth and expansion.”

24 Bit Games’ portfolio includes projects ranging from adaptation to co-development and production of tools for independent and AAA studios, spanning platforms such as consoles, PC, mobile and virtual reality.
