Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, will leave the company after 32 years


In a major leadership change, Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, announced his departure from the company after 32 years of service. His last day in office will be December 29. The news also reveals that other key executives, including Blizzard Entertainment president Mike Ybarra, Activision Publishing president Rob Kostich, and Activision Blizzard vice president Thomas Tippl, will report to Matt Booty, president of content at Microsoft Gaming games and studios.

Additional changes in senior management

Along with Kotick’s departure, Humam Sakhnini, vice president of Blizzard Entertainment and King, will also leave the company at the end of December. Likewise, Lulu Meservey, director of communications at Activision Blizzard, will follow in Kotick’s footsteps and will leave the company at the end of January 2024.

Transition and executives who remain until March 2024

During this transition period, several key executives will continue to serve in their roles until March 2024. This includes Brian Bulatao, Managing Director; Julie Hodges, director of human resources; Grant Dixon, legal director; and Armin Zerza, chief financial officer.

This change in Activision Blizzard’s senior management marks a significant milestone in the history of the video game company. Matt Booty’s oversight of Microsoft Gaming will be instrumental in the transition and future direction of the company. These changes could have implications for Activision Blizzard’s game strategy and development for years to come.
