Bloomberg analysts predicting $400+ price & June 2025 release for Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2 may have been officially revealed by Nintendo a couple of months ago, but there is still not really much information to go on that has come straight from Nintendo themselves. So, leaks and opinions from analysts have been filling the gaps until Nintendo’s big Switch 2 Direct on April 2nd. Some analysts at Bloomberg, for example, have offered their insight on the matter. What makes them unique, however, is that they regularly communicate with Nintendo and their partners.

According to the analysts, they expect that the Switch 2 will be more expensive than its predecessor, with it potentially being $400 or more. In fact, Toyo Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda said that “I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo goes ahead with $499”, though that depends on factors such as the US tariffs and its trade war with various countries, as well as the hardware costs. The analysts are divided in that regard though.

It’s not all concerning for Nintendo though. The analysts also expect that the Switch 2 will release relatively soon, in June. As for games, Tokyo-based industry watcher Serkan Toto expects “a great software lineup in year 1, from new Mario Kart and 3D Mario after eight years to Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4.There will also be third-party support from day one, most probably including blockbusters like Call of Duty”. So, there should be lots of games on the way too.

The analysts also agree that, despite the high price, the console will still get off to a great start. Macquarie Capital analyst Hiroshi Yamashina expects sales of 20,000,000 units during its first year of availability, for example. Meanwhile, Robin Zhu of Sanford C. Bernstein expects that Nintendo will have 6,000,000-8,000,000 Switch 2 units available at launch. If so, that would make it the biggest console launch ever.
