The Persona series took off with the release of Persona 3 in 2006, and it has shown no signs of slowing down ever since. In fact, it has only accelerated with Persona 5’s massive success and Atlus being acquired by SEGA. Last year, Atlus released a remake of Persona 3, which is called Persona 3 Reload. It sold very well, and it also ignited some speculation that Persona 4 might receive a similar treatment in the future.
That speculation is only going to get more intense, as it has been discovered that a Japanese web domain has been registered called “p4re”. What makes this particularly interesting is that there was a “p3re” web domain registration that had been discovered a few months before the announcement of Persona 3 Reload. So, it has made the possibility of a Persona 4 remake all the more likely.
As for what this means for Nintendo players, there’s a reason to be optimistic. Although the Persona games are more known for being associated with releases on Xbox consoles and especially PlayStation, Atlus and SEGA haven’t ignored Nintendo hardware completely. The Persona Q games were released exclusively on the 3DS. Persona 5 Strikers and Persona 5 Tactica were released on the Switch. Most importantly, Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal were all released on the Nintendo Switch a couple of years ago. This made it the first time that those main games were available on a Nintendo console.
Persona 3 Reload wasn’t released on the Switch, but with the more powerful Switch 2 on its way, it’s very likely that Atlus will port it to the new console. Not only that, but if a Persona 4 remake is, indeed, on the way, the odds are really high that a Switch 2 release will happen. If that does occur, we’ll let you know. In the meantime, you can see a social media post relaying the news down below.
