Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launches for Switch on Sept. 25th, Hatsune Miku, Ichiban Kasuga, Joker, and Minecraft confirmed, Switch 2 Edition coming later

At Summer Game Fest, the release date for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was confirmed to be September 25th, 2025. However, this date is only for the Switch 1 version of the game, with the Switch 2 Edition launching later for £64.99 GBP. A paid upgrade pack will also be available for those that have already purchased the Switch 1 version.

Additionally, SEGA characters Ichiban Kasuga from Yakuza, Joker from Persona, and Hatsune Miku were revealed as playable racers. Minecraft will also be coming to the game in the future as part of the Season Pass and Digital Deluxe Edition, with Steve as playable and the Minecraft world as a racetrack.

SpongeBob was leaked as another DLC character earlier this week, but has not yet been officially revealed.
