More free updates are coming to Space Marine 2 following the release of its massive, bloody siege mode

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is getting another year of free updates, following the recent release of its massive PvE siege mode.

Announced on the Focus Entertainment community website, the publisher and developer Saber stated stated more PvE missions, enemies, weapons and a mysterious “more” is on the way, made possible thanks to the “unwavering support” of the game’s community.

There’s also a large-scale patch coming in September. This will feature a new PvP mode, which was originally meant to come earlier in the year as part of Space Marine 2’s version 9.0 update. This 9.0 update is still going ahead though, with balancing changes as well as other “new content”.

To make up for the delay on the PvP mode, Focus has teased some of its quirks. It’s a Chaos vs Chaos mode taking place on a new map, and players will be able to take control of the Hellbrute!

This sounds like it could be a spin on the lesser-seen Juggernaut game mode. A multiplayer classic where players fight to take down one super-charged player, with the person who lands the killing blow taking up the mantle of the new juggernaut.

With this new game mode comes a much-demanded feature: new chaos armours! For those who don’t know, Space Marine 2 has loads of loyalist customisation options, but Chaos class variants have been unable to adjust their look in multiplayer. So this seemingly small addition is actually a big deal.

In September’s version 10.0 update, the game is also getting a new weapon with the Power Axe. Focus capped off the announcements with its biggest: a new class for PvP and PvE. The Tech Marine is coming, and while it doesn’t have a release date yet, the developers are going to show it off in the next community update.

This new class is certainly something the playerbase has wanted, as shown by all the community classes folks have added to the game following Focus’ implementation of mod support. It’s also worth noting Tech Marines are dope, and the 15 Iron Hands fans out there will surely be happy to hear they’re coming to Space Marine 2.

This year of free updates will certainly keep folks busy while Focus Entertainment is working on Space Marine 3. It certainly feels like there’s a lot of good stuff to look forward to if you’re a Warhammer fiend, given the continued support of this title as well as all the games revealed at the recent Warhammer Boltgun showcase.
