Nintendo announces the end of online services for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U

Nintendo has announced that in April 2024, it will end online services for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U games. This news comes after the suspension of sales in the Nintendo eShop for these consoles in March. While an exact date has not yet been specified, the company promises to provide more details in the future.

Online services that will be affected include online cooperative gaming, internet leaderboards, and data sharing. This means that players will no longer be able to enjoy online features on these systems. However, Nintendo has indicated that online services for Pokémon Bank will continue to function, although it also warns that at some point they could come to an end.

This news affects the following consoles: New Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS XL, New Nintendo 2DS XL, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo 2DS, Wii U Deluxe and Wii U Basic.

Nintendo sincerely thanks players for their support over the years and apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. The company also highlights that if any event arises that makes it difficult to continue online services, they could be forced to suspend them earlier than planned.

This announcement marks the end of an era for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U fans, and is a reminder of the constant evolution in the video game industry.
