One of the more surprising games to see during the Nintendo Switch 2-themed Nintendo Direct was Star Wars Outlaws, which is currently only available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Speaking in a recent video Digital Foundry technology editor Richard Leadbetter had the following to say about the inclusion, “I think this one’s quite surprising, to be honest, Star Wars Outlaws. This is like a technologically demanding game on the new Snowdrop engine for Ubisoft Massive. The concept that it’s running on this class of hardware is pretty mind-blowing, I’d say.”
Digital Foundry contributor Oliver Mackenzie chimed in stating that Star Wars Outlaws “a really exciting port, possibly an impossible port, if you will.” That’s because it’s such a large game utilizing features like ray tracing. Plus, there isn’t say a PS4 edition, while other third-party titles like Elden Ring and Street Fighter 6 did come to last-gen consoles.”
Lastly, Digital Foundry video producer Alex Battaglia stated that Star Wars Outlaws is “By far the most technically ambitious game that we’ve seen mentioned as having been ported to Switch 2, like by far.”
