Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was the very last game that Nintendo revealed in the Switch 1 Direct that was held earlier this week. Although the game won’t be releasing on the Switch until next year, it has been more than a decade since the last Tomodachi Life game was released, and that was on the 3DS. It is something that quite a few Nintendo fans have been wanting ever since the Switch launched in 2017. You may be surprised to hear, however, just how much hype there is for this game.
The game’s reveal trailer is very popular right now, not just in Japan but in the United States as well. For example, as of less than a day ago, Nintendo of America’s Instagram post of the trailer has gotten 298,000 likes and counting. In comparison, the Metroid Prime 4 trailer that was also in the recent Switch 1 Direct has gotten 44,000 likes on the same account. In fact, the only thing that the Metroid Prime 4 trailer is currently outpacing Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream’s trailer on is the amount of views on Nintendo of America’s YouTube channel.
In Japan, it is even more popular. In fact, Nintendo’s Japanese X/Twitter account posting of the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream trailer has racked up 400,000 likes. Not only has this surpassed the amount of likes that the same account received from the Switch 2 reveal trailer in January, but this is now officially the most liked posting on the account ever. Nintendo of Japan’s video of the trailer has even surpassed well over a million views. Needless to say, the new Tomodachi Life game is getting a lot of attention. Time will tell on whether that will make the game a sales success.
