Nintendo Switch 2 has a built-in microphone, camera sold separately, ‘C’ button is for voice chat

Nintendo has announced the purpose of the mysterious ‘C’ button on the right Joy-Con of the Nintendo Switch 2 and it’s stands for none other than “chat”. With a built-in microphone on the console, you will be able to voice chat with friends in handheld mode or docked mode as the mic will apparently be able to pick up your voice from across the room.

A camera will also be sold separately, available the same date as the launch of the system, to use with chat.

GameChat will be available without a Nintendo Switch Online subscription until March 31st 2026, but after that date an online subscription will be required.
