The long-rumoured Final Fantasy Tactics remaster is in fact real, and coming to just about everything on September 30 this year.
If you’re looking to own a physical copy of the game on modern systems, there’s some good and bad news. In the US, physical copies of the game are exclusive to Amazon, while those in the UK can pick it up from any number of retailers online or in-store.

Moreover, while there are PS5 and Nintendo Switch versions available to pre-order from today, Xbox and PC players won’t be able to grab physical editions of the upcoming release at all.
But, those purchasing on Switch will be able to upgrade their copy to the Switch 2 Edition at no extra charge, using a free upgrade pass, at least according to the Square Enix’s listing for the game in Japan.
Pre-orders for the physical copies are now available £49.99 in the UK and $49.99 in the US, with both slated for release date delivery.

Those pre-ordering physical copes of the game in the US will also get an Amazon exclusive poster pre-order bonus. For now, this is only listed for the US version via Amazon, with no indication of it being extended to the UK as well.
The other standard pre-order bonuses bestow additional White equipment for Ramza, as well as a Mythril Knife, Spiked Boots that increase a unit’s Jump attribute, and a series of consumables including High Potions and Ether.

Square Enix was also offering a Collector’s Box for the remaster, but it promptly sold out no long after going on sale. It’s a Square Enix Store exclusive that does not contain the game, but has the following physical extras.
- Ramza Beoulve figure (Akademy version)
- Chocobo mini plush set
- Pop-up art – “Outlying Church”
- Special art box
- Art sheet set
- Zodiac stones acrylic magnet set

This remaster of sorts of the first game boasts original director Kazutoyo Maehiro as its director, but it’s also two games in one. It includes the original game, with its classic graphical style and the localisation from the (excellent) War of the Lions PSP port, as well as a much fancier, visually overhauled version.
This new version also includes changes to the game’s script, additional difficulty options, and voice acting in both English and Japanese.
For those looking to save a little extra on their pre-order, The Game Collection in the UK also has the game up for £39.95, but will require immediate payment unlike Amazon, which charges once the game dispatches later this year.
