Clearly hoping to shift some product, Sony has announced a price cut for PlayStation VR2.
From next month, those interested will be able to purchase the headset for £400 here in the UK. On its release, the PS VR2 had a £530 price tag.
For those elsewhere, the system will have a recommended retail price $399.99 / €449.99 / ¥66,980, starting in March.
For that price, consumers will be able to get their hands (and faces, I suppose) on the PS VR2 headset, the PS VR2 Sense controller, and stereo headphones.
For the same price, there is also the option to scoop up the PS VR2 Call of the Mountain bundle. As you may have surmised already, this bundle includes the same kit as above, but also comes with a PlayStation Store voucher code for Horizon Call of the Mountain.
Our Ian quite enjoyed Horizon Call of the Mountain on its release.
“In flat-screen, Call of the Mountain would have been nothing more than a forgettable spin-off with a limited appeal to anyone but the core Horizon fans who know the difference between a Nora and an Oseram. With the addition of PSVR2 though, Horizon Call of the Mountain becomes a remarkable spectacle that anyone can enjoy,” he wrote in Eurogamer’s Horizon Call of the Mountain review, complimenting the game’s “intoxicating views”.
As well as Call of the Mountain, other PS VR2 games available on the platform include Alien: Rogue Incursion, Skydance’s Behemoth, and Metro Awakening VR.
In a blog post detailing the PS VR2’s price cut, Sony noted a recent update to the system means users will also be able to enjoy low-latency hand tracking.
So, are you tempted to pick up the PS VR2 for yourself?
Elsewhere in VR-related news, earlier today original Xbox co-creator Seamus Blackley said VR still doesn’t have a “killer app” yet and that’s why the technology hasn’t taken off. All I can say is, errm, Half-Life: Alyx…
