US: Nintendo says Switch 2 pre-orders won’t start on 9th April due to tariff’s

Donald Trump’s changes to tariffs is seemingly going to affect the Nintendo Switch 2 pricing in the United States. Nintendo informed journalist Tamoor Hussain that the Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders, which were meant to kick off in the USA on Wednesday 9th April, will not happen on that date and will be announced at a later date. Presumably the Kyoto-based company is looking to see how much Trump’s tariffs will affect pricing before committing to pre-orders, which would obviously have to include the system price. Pre-orders have already opened in Europe at a large number of retailers. Nintendo says that the launch date remains 5th June in the United States and the rest of the world.

Statement from Nintendo: Statement from Nintendo: Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.
