Xbox’s Expansion Cards just hit their lowest-ever price for Prime Day, so is it finally time to buy one?

Amazon’s Prime Day sales event is into its second day, and we’ve spotted a great deal for Xbox owners looking to make the most of a big month for Game Pass.

The retailer is offering additional storage for Xbox Series S and X consoles at a discount, with 25% off of 1TB and 23% off of 2TB models of the WD_BLACK C50 Game Drive, a fully licensed storage expansion card.

While you can plug any old hard drive into your Xbox Series console, you’ll only be able to play games off of the internal drive or one of these ‘plug and play’ solutions because they run significantly faster thanks to the ‘Xbox Velocity Architecture’.

And, with Game Pass continuing to include bangers like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, no one wants to be shuffling their games around.

Thankfully, popping one of these into your console can increase your storage with new space that’s even fast enough to play games off of. Quick Resume is supported, too, so you can open a few games at once and then jump between them.

Is it a more elegant solution than cracking open the PS5? Arguably, but the proprietary nature of the cards does mean prices are higher than just buying an M.2 for Sony’s system, making deals like this even more important.
