Saints Row series developer Volition closes its doors after 30 years


Volitionthe studio behind the hit series Saints Row, announced its closure after 30 years in the video game industry. In a message posted on its official LinkedIn page, the studio stated: “Last June, (our parent company) Embracer Group announced a restructuring program to strengthen Embracer and maintain its position as a leader in the video game industry. As part of that program, they evaluated strategic and operational objectives and made the difficult decision to close Volition immediately.”

The Volition team has proudly created world-class entertainment for fans around the world for 30 years. We have always been driven by passion for our community and have worked to bring joy, surprise and satisfaction. However, the closure of Volition is part of a broader strategy by Embracer Group to consolidate its position in the video game industry.

To support our team, we are working to provide employment assistance and ease the transition for members of the Volition family. We thank our customers and fans around the world for all the love and support over the years. They will always be in our hearts.

The closure of Volition marks the end of an era in the video game industry and brings to an end a long history of developing notable games, including the popular Saints Row series. Fans will surely remember fondly the games Volition has created over the years.
