New action game Blade Chimera coming to Switch and PC in spring 2024


Publisher PLAYISM, together with publisher and developer WSS playground, and developer Team Ladybug, have announced the release of the side-scrolling action game Blade Chimera for Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam). The release date is scheduled for spring 2024.

Game Description: Blade Chimera is a new original Metroidvania created by Team Ladybug, the team behind the acclaimed 2D Metroidvania games, Touhou Luna Nights, the Touhou project fan game that has sold over 50,000 copies, and the Record of Lodoss fan game. War, Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth.

In the game, you will take on the role of Shin, a Demon Hunter who has lost his memory and now explores the world together with his sword, the transformed demon Lux. Your mission will be to collect memories about yourself, your missing wife and skills that you have forgotten. Each time you regain a lost ability, Lux changes shape according to the will of the wielder of it, making Shin stronger and gaining access to more areas of the world.

The story takes place in the near future, where distorted monsters and specters have appeared out of nowhere, invading cities and forcing humans to fight these creatures they have called “demons” in an all-out Demon War. After 30 relentless years of war, the surviving humans have united under the Missa Association, a religious group formed by a leader who knows the secret to fighting demons.

Three years ago, a man known as Shin was rescued from the rubble in a cryopreserved state. With no memories of his past, he quickly becomes one of the association’s greatest warriors and protectors. However, when Shin meets the beautiful demon named Lux, she seems strangely familiar to him. This feeling of déjà vu leads him to embrace it, even if it means going against the association’s creeds. From that moment on, the past slowly begins to unfold, revealing the events that caused the city to take its current form. Get ready to dive into this exciting and mysterious Metroidvania adventure in the spring of next year!
