Danganronpa series creator Kazutaka Kodaka will announce an “insane” new title in the near future

Kazutaka Kodaka, creator of the Danganronpa series and Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE, has announced via tweet that he will reveal an “insane” new title in the near future. In the post, Kodaka shared his intense dedication to the project, noting that the game’s setting is so maddening and absorbing that he finds himself working harder than ever.

Details according to Kodaka’s tweet: “The game I’m working so hard on right now: the setting is so insane and so fascinating that I end up working harder than anything else. Even when things get difficult or problematic, I end up working or writing scenarios instead of playing or resting. It may be the first time I have become so obsessed with a work. I wonder if I’ll get burned. In any case, the announcement and launch are in the near future, so I would like everyone to look forward to it. And well, I’m tired, so I hope you can cheer me up. #Limit #Despair”

When Too Kyo Games announced its establishment in September 2018, four projects were hinted at in production with concept art. Of those four projects, only one has yet to be officially announced: “A game with a joint scenario by Kazutaka Kodaka and Kotaro Uchikoshi! ‘Limit’ x ‘Despair’.” The work was previewed in December 2023 during a year-end interview, where Kodaka expressed that he was working on an “insane” project that he hopes to announce in 2024.

Kodaka mentioned in the year-end interview: “Our next project is particularly worthy of the name ‘too kyo’, being a game that can only be considered insane. I hope to announce it next year. It’s a game we’re all extremely passionate about and we’re all vomiting blood while creating it, so please support us when the time comes.”

Additionally, Kotaro Uchikoshi, creator of the Zero Escape and AI: The Somnium Files series, also working on Too Kyo Games alongside Kodaka, hinted that he is working on something “insane.” “Sorry, I can’t officially announce it yet, but I hope to announce a crazy-insane title that will go down in video game history during (2024). Pay attention!”
