RKGK: Immerse yourself in Street Art with This Anime and Graffiti Game

During the recent presentation of the Triple-i Initiative, Gearbox Publishing and the Wabisabi Games studio announced the launch of RKGK for this year. This innovative action platform video game stands out for its impressive visual style that fuses anime influences with graffiti art.

The story of RKGK, pronounced “Rakugaki,” takes place in Cap City, a futuristic metropolis subjugated by the tyrannical B Corp, led by the evil Mr. Buff. The game centers on Valah, a rebellious graffiti artist who fights against the system. Valah uses her art to revitalize the city and motivate the citizens to rise up in rebellion.

Valah moves around the city using his graffiti paint to stylistically slide on rails, connecting jumps, runs and glides. He also has his own drone to fly over the urban landscape. The game’s fast pace relies on maintaining a state of continuous flux, allowing Valah to enter Defacer mode, transforming the world into a dreamy, animated version. Although the trailer does not show gameplay, it does feature Valah using his paint to destroy B Corp’s robotic minions. Additionally, players will be able to create graffiti art with a variety of painting tools and cosmetics. Check out the screenshots below to see what RKGK looks like in action.

RKGK is the first title from Wabisabi Games and promises to follow in the footsteps of other video games that explore graffiti-saturated dystopian futures, such as Jet Set Radio and Marc Ecko’s Getting Up. It will be available on PC later this year.
