Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem looks to be shaping up to be something special. We’ve seen plenty of footage of the game now and the rumour which has been doing to rounds since its reveal is that it will feature Leon Kennedy. IGN spoke with Resident Evil: Reiquem director, Koshi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazama, who told them that while they don’t want to wipe the slate clean with fresh new characters in every new entry and they also don’t want to go back to the existing pool of characters in the long-running franchise when they create new games in the series. The duo said that this was “part of the motivation” to introduce Grace in Resident Evil Requiem.
“Although we don’t have firm plans for the future storylines of later titles in the series, I still think passing the torch is probably going a bit too far, because we’re not just going to wipe the slate clean completely in terms of the series lore and history. But at the same time I don’t want to always have to just go back to the well of existing characters to create new games, which was part of the motivation to introduce Grace.”
