Tales of remastered release order has to do with behind-the-scenes complications

Bandai Namco has been steadily working through older Tales of games and giving them the remaster treatment. Plenty of fans of the long-running series have wondered about the games release order and why certain games have seemingly been chosen above others. Tales of IP’s general producer Yusuke Tomizawa has said that the embarrassing issue of not knowing where the actual source code is located has cropped on up more than one occasion. Here’s what he said:

“We have to start by finding out where the source code is and who’s managing it. It’s a bit embarrassing, but since there were multiple different development studios working on the series over the years, we have to find the original data first. And when we do find it, it can be full of gaps, which takes months of analysis to deal with.”
