Borderlands 4 pre-orders explained: Here’s what’s included in each edition

Borderlands 4 is launching on September 12, and while it won’t have as steep a cost as had been suggested, it will start at £59.99 (£69.99 for physical copies on console), which isn’t exactly cheap either.

Still, Randy Pitchford reckons ‘real fans’ would pay even more than that to get their hands on the upcoming loot shooter, which means that there are special editions available for even more moolah.

If you are one of those ‘real fans’, however, you’ll know that we’re now just under 3 months from launch, so now’s the time to look at what’s available in each edition before purchasing the game. Here’s what comes in each edition.

Borderlands 4 Editions

Borderlands 4 Standard Edition

£69.99

The first version of the game, as you’d perhaps expect, is the standard Borderlands 4 offering.

This £59.99 (PC) or £69.99 (console, PS5 and Xbox) purchase includes the full base game, as well as the Gilded Glory Pack. What does that contain? We’re glad you asked: It’s a weapon skin, a drone skin, and a Vault Hunter skin.

The Deluxe Edition is up to £89.99, and offers everything from the standard addition, as well as an extra weapon skin dubbed Firehawks Fury and the Bounty Pack Bundle as post-launch content. It’s a digital exclusive, as far as we can tell.

This bundle includes a quartet of new areas, missions, and bosses, additional gear to earn, and new cosmetics. There are also 4 Vault Cards, which, if they’re implemented in the same way as in Borderlands 3‘s Director’s Cut, will offer you extra XP and challenges.

Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition

£119.99

Finally, the aptly titled Super Deluxe Edition is £119.99. It includes everything from the Deluxe Edition, while also adding two more DLC packs and a physical Steelbook.

The first DLC pack, Ornate Order, includes 4 Vault Hunter Skins, 4 Vault Hunter Heads, and 4 Vault Hunter bodies at launch.

The second is the Vault Hunter Pack, which includes fresh cosmetics and gear, as well as two more Vault Hunters, two new Story Packs of story and side missions, and two new map regions.

“Each Story Pack will add a new playable Vault Hunter, an entirely new region of Kairos with extended narrative content including additional storylines and side missions, and tons of fresh loot and cosmetics to collect,” Gearbox’s blog post explains.

Finally, there is a Collector’s Edition which comes with a statue of Echo-4, a cloth map of Kairos, a necklace, art prints and Shift codes for 5 Golden Keys. Sadly, it doesn’t include the game, and it’s $150 in the US, where it’s a GameStop exclusive. Womp womp.
