A couple of days ago, A Minecraft Movie officially opened in theaters. To say that the movie has been popular this weekend would be an understatement. It has been making a lot of money in just its opening weekend alone. Now that the weekend is done, we’re finally able to see just how well it has done, and it is nothing short of impressive.
A Minecraft Movie has made $157,000,000 at the United States box office this weekend, as well as $301,000,000 worldwide. This means that the movie is now the best opening that a video game movie has ever been able to achieve in the United States. The previous record holder was none other than The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Of course, a sequel to the Mario movie has already been announced, so Nintendo has an opportunity to get the record back. However, it won’t be out until next year. So, for now, A Minecraft Movie will have the record.
