Visual novel ‘The Curse of Kudan’ is coming to Nintendo Switch in December


Publisher PROTOTYPE has revealed that it will release a Nintendo Switch version of the yuri visual novel “The Curse of Kudan” on December 21. This version will include English, Japanese, and Chinese language options. In Japan, the physical edition will cost 4,950 yen, while the digital edition will be available for 4,300 yen.

Typically, PROTOTYPE titles containing English localizations are released digitally worldwide on the same day as their Japanese release. “The Curse of Kudan”, known as “Folklore of Kudan” in Japan, was first released for PC on April 26, 2019 in Japan, followed by versions for iOS and Android on November 8, 2019. A localization in English was released for PC on October 29, 2020.

The synopsis of the story, provided by the official website, is as follows: “Rumors are circulating about the urban legend known as ‘Kudan.’ They say that it takes the form of a woman dressed in mourning, with her face covered by a black veil, her right hand separated from the wrist… They say that those who look at her are condemned to suffer misfortunes in the next seven days… The feelings begin to blossom between student Sakuya Kudan and cooking teacher Touko Shima after chance brings them together. However, her peaceful daily life is abruptly shattered when Touko sees Kudan, the bringer of calamity. The hours tick by as Sakuya races to find a way to combat the curse, and her search leads her to the academy’s Occult Research Club and its president, Koto Ashinaki. Now she must face the unknown to protect the people she loves…”
