Square Enix Releases Exciting Free Update for Final Fantasy XVI, Announces PC Version and DLC


Square Enix has surprised the followers of Final Fantasy XVI by releasing an exciting free update for the game. This update includes a weapon skin change feature, the Onion Sword, and new costumes for Clive, Jill, Torgal, and other characters. Additionally, Square Enix has announced that a PC version and two paid DLCs are currently in development, with more information to be revealed before the end of 2023.

This exciting news was revealed during Square Enix’s “Voices from Valisthea” panel at the PAX West 2023 event in Seattle. The panel featured the English voice cast of Final Fantasy XVI, and producer Naoki Yoshida shared the announcements via a video message at the end of the panel.

In the message, Naoki Yoshida expressed his gratitude to players around the world for their comments and reactions to the game. He then detailed the two main features of the free update. The first is the ability to change the appearance of Clive’s weapon to any other blade in the player’s possession, while maintaining the stats of the currently equipped weapon. The second part of the update includes alternate costumes for several main characters in the game, giving players the option to choose between the default look and new options at any time.

DLC and PC Version in Development

Naoki Yoshida also revealed that the development team has begun working on two paid DLC to expand the story of Valisthea and allow players to spend more time with its inhabitants. Additionally, he officially confirmed that they are developing a PC version of Final Fantasy XVI, which will open the doors to a wider audience.
