Hideki Kamiya will leave PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023


Tokyo, Japan – In an official announcement, the studio PlatinumGames revealed that Hideki Kamiyagame designer, director and executive vice president of PlatinumGames, will leave the company on October 12, 2023. Kamiya is known for being one of the founders of the company along with current CEO Atsushi Inabata, as well as former members Shinji Mikami and Tatsuya Minami, establishing PlatinumGames the October 1, 2007.

During his time at PlatinumGames, Kamiya directed acclaimed games such as Bayonetta and The Wonderful 101, and served as creative director on Sol Cresta. Prior to today’s announcement, he was directing a new game codenamed “Project GG,” which was said to be the final title in his self-described “hero trilogy,” following Capcom’s Viewtiful Joe and The Wonderful 101.

PlatinumGames’ official statement on Kamiya’s departure reads: “We regret to announce that Hideki Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023. We are truly grateful for his creative ideas, leadership and contribution to the growth of PlatinumGames from our inception to today. . We believe that he will continue to be successful in his future endeavors as a game creator. We look forward to seeing the gaming industry become a better place with him in it. We wish him all the best for the future!”

Hideki Kamiya’s departure marks the end of an era at PlatinumGames and will undoubtedly leave a mark on the gaming industry. Fans and the gaming community will be on the lookout for his future projects and contributions to the industry.
