Developer S-GAME has announced that its long-awaited side-scrolling action RPG, Phantom Blade: Executionerswill be available for free starting November 2 on various platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC through the Epic Games Store, iOS and Android.
Phantom Blade: Executioners is the first title in S-GAME’s Phantom Blade series, which also includes Phantom Blade Zero, a previously announced thrilling 3D action RPG for PlayStation 5 and PC.
In Phantom Blade: Executioners, players will join the mysterious Order to investigate recent murders carried out by clans that have employed the forbidden Sha-Chi body engineering technique. Choose from four different heroes, each specializing in mystical Wuxia abilities, and must eliminate Sha-Chi-enhanced monstrosities from a beautiful, hand-painted 2D world.
This installment represents the evolution of S-GAME’s commitment to representing traditional martial arts inspired by Wuxia in all of its projects. The company is known for popularizing “kung-fu punk”-themed side-scrolling action role-playing games over the course of a decade.
Players will take on the role of members of the Order, who must use their Wuxia-infused mastery of martial arts to annihilate humans transformed by forbidden Sha-Chi engineering techniques. They will need to perform dynamic combos based on skill chains with a tap of the button, earn Phantom bonuses throughout the game, and stack them into their character’s abilities to maximize damage and enhance martial arts skills. They will also be able to collect valuable equipment to use in the next battle and explore the procedurally generated dungeons to obtain the coveted Sin Gears.
While Phantom Blade: Executioners’ controls are intuitive and fun, the game won’t be a walk in the park. Huge bosses consumed by Sha-Chi will challenge players to discover the characters, Phantom bonuses, equipment and additional perks that best suit their play style. At times when the battle seems insurmountable, players can team up with a friendly ally through co-op to face the threat of Sha-Chi together.
Additionally, Phantom Blade: Executioners establishes the background of the hero Soul, the main protagonist of Phantom Blade Zero. Set to release on multiple platforms, this game promises an exciting 2D action-RPG experience.
