Publisher Konami and developer WayForward have released an exciting trailer, information and screenshots for the side-running shooter Against: Operation Galuga, introducing the game’s characters. This new information confirms a strong cast of playable characters and an exciting narrative that will complement the fast-paced, action-packed action that the Contra series has offered since the 1980s.
A New Adventure Against: Operation Galuga
The plot of Contra: Operation Galuga is unleashed after a meteor shower on the Galuga archipelago and the subsequent invasion of the terrorist group Red Falcon. With other options failing, Earth’s Marine Corps sends its most elite soldiers, Bill Rizer and Lance Bean of the Contra unit, to investigate and neutralize any potential threats.
Extensive Cast of Playable Characters:
Story Mode features over six playable hardcore heroes, including:
- Bill Rizer: Field leader of the Contra unit, with exceptional physical strength, agility and mental strength. Expert in all types of weapons and versed in military sciences.
- Lance Bean: Expert sniper skilled with machinery. He was a guerilla fighter before being recruited into the Earth Marine Corps by Bill Rizer.
- Ariana: Tremendously skilled warrior from the Galuga Archipelago. After her village is nearly wiped out by Red Falcon’s attack, she wages a one-man war against the enemy forces.
- Lucy: Deputy Commander in the Earth Marine Corps and also a talented field operative. She is proficient in both combat missions and covert intelligence.
- Lt. Stanley Ironside: Veteran who leads an armored unit in the GX Army. He uses a powered Hercules exoskeleton to complement his already formidable combat skills.
- Probotector: Autonomous training robots used by the Contra unit. Using cutting-edge technology, they are just as capable in the field as their human counterparts.
Varied Game Modes:
Contra: Operation Galuga will offer a Challenge Mode with 30 action-packed missions, including racing through stages, fighting with limited ammo, surviving hordes of relentless enemies, among others. In addition to Story Mode and Arcade Mode, players will also be able to upgrade their abilities in the Perk Shop, where they can use in-game credits (no microtransactions) to upgrade character abilities, start stages with specific weapons, increase invulnerability after to respawn and get other useful bonuses. Up to two perks can be equipped per player.
Release Scheduled for Early 2024:
Contra: Operation Galuga is scheduled for release in early 2024 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam. Fans of the series and action lovers can look forward to a renewed Contra experience with exciting characters, an immersive narrative and challenging game modes.
