Atari announces the release of Akka Arrh for PlayStation 5 with support for PlayStation VR2 in March

Atari and developer Llmasoft have revealed that the fascinating psychedelic arcade game, Akka Arrh, will arrive on PlayStation 5 with support for PlayStation VR2 in March. The game was initially released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam on February 21, 2023.

Akka Arrh, in its unexpected adaptation to virtual reality, transcends the limitations of the 2D format, presenting a new dimension of gameplay that is as immersive as it is intuitive. The PlayStation VR2 experience elevates gaming from a simple visual spectacle to a fully immersive journey into Jeff Minter’s hypnotic universe. Here, players don’t just witness chaos; they enter it. Each layer of techno-infused action, previously compressed into 2D space, now unfolds into a rich 3D landscape.

In this surreal virtual reality world, filled with cascading shapes, colors and sounds, each element of Minter’s vision comes to life with previously unimaginable intensity and clarity, transforming Akka Arrh into a sensory odyssey like no other.

In Akka Arrh, players control a command center ready to destroy oncoming enemies. They begin with bombs that trigger a chain of on-screen reactions. By defeating enemies, players accumulate bullets which are used to keep the multiplier rising. Ultimately, Akka Arrh is a unique shooter that challenges players to plan each carefully timed shot to maximize their high score.

The arrival of Akka Arrh on PlayStation 5 with support for PlayStation VR2 promises to immerse players in an even more captivating and surreal gaming experience, taking the shooter genre to new heights of visual innovation and immersive gameplay.
