The Switch version of The Legend of Steel Empire will be released on January 23

The Switch version of “The Legend of Steel Empire” will be released on January 23, as announced by ININ Games. A version for PlayStation 4 will be released later. Both games, “The Legend of Steel Empire” and “Over Horizon to preorder.

ININ Games offers a description of the game:

About “The Legend of Steel Empire”:

“The Legend of Steel Empire” is a shoot ’em up from 1992 for the SEGA Mega Drive and from 2004 for the Game Boy Advance, developed by HOT-B. It is known for its distinctive diesel-punk style, which combines elements of steampunk and late 19th century industrial design, setting it apart from other games in the genre. The game features giant battleships taking to the skies and armored locomotives carrying cannons the size of railroad cars. With invulnerable fortresses floating in the air, the Motorhead Empire has conquered and enslaved virtually the entire planet. This is the story of Steel Empire, released in the golden age of shoot ’em ups in the early 90s for the SEGA Mega Drive and since remade on some portable consoles. “The Legend of Steel Empire” marks the latest entry in the series.

The HD remaster is based on the 2018 PC game, but includes some important additions. All graphics have been upgraded to high definition, the controls have been retuned, and there is a leveling system: the more items you collect, the stronger you become. However, opponents also become more resilient and the hordes larger. In short, a lovingly restored remaster. Hop into one of the Striker planes or the Zeppelin with an aerial missile launcher and blast your way through seven complex stages packed with well-balanced Euro-shmup action.
