Renowned publisher, Idea Factory International, has revealed exciting news for visual novel fans with the announcement of the upcoming arrival of GO LIVE: Ren Dystopia to the PC platform via Steam in 2024. The visual novel, which is a continuation of the popular DATE A LIVE series, originally released for PlayStation 4 in Japan on September 24, 2020, will look to captivate a global audience with its release on PC.
The decision to go with the PC platform, rather than a PlayStation 4 version at the Western launch, was confirmed by a representative from Idea Factory International in a statement to Gematsu. According to the representative, the choice of PC is based on the appreciation of the global audience who enjoyed the previous release, DATE A LIVE: Rio Reincarnation, on the Steam platform.
The worldwide PC version of DATE A LIVE: Ren Dystopia promises to deliver an immersive experience by supporting Japanese audio and English, Japanese and Traditional Chinese subtitles. In addition to the main game, the Deluxe Edition will include localizations of two exclusive audio dramas, “Natsumi Encounter” and “Origami Friendship,” as well as the novella “Ren Masques.”
The story of DATE A LIVE: Ren Dystopia takes place thirty years after the Earth was devastated by “spacequakes”, events triggered by enigmatic entities known as Spirits. Shido Itsuka, the protagonist, encounters a new Spirit named Natsumi and finds himself immersed in a plot involving Deus Ex Machina Industry. The narrative promises unique challenges as Shido seeks to seal the powers of the Spirits through romantic encounters.
Backed by Fujimi’s best-selling Fantasia Bunko light novel series, DATE A LIVE has gained popularity both in Japan and abroad, with more than six million copies sold worldwide. The series has also been adapted into a television anime, with DATE A LIVE IV being the most recent installment broadcast in 2022.
DATE A LIVE: Ren Dystopia for PC promises to provide players with a unique experience where captivating narrative is combined with romantic elements and exciting challenges. The specific release date has yet to be revealed, but fans can expect to dive into this intriguing world in 2024.
