Developer miHoYo has announced that the 4.4 update of Genshin Impact, titled “Vibrant Harriers Aloft in Spring Breeze,” will be released on January 31. The update brings celebrations for the annual Lantern Rite event and further expands Liyue to the northwest with a new region called Chenyu Vale to explore.
Main features of the update according to miHoYo:
- Liyue City will celebrate the Annual Lantern Festival with various rewards, including 10 + 3 Intertwined Fates, a free four-star Liyue character, and a new outfit for Xingqiu.
- This year’s Lantern Festival features a new kite theme to welcome a prosperous new year with abundant rewards, new events, mini-games and redeemable items.
- During the limited-time daily login event, players will be able to claim up to 10 Intertwined Fates, and 3 additional Intertwined Fates and 2 Fragile Resins will be delivered via the in-game mailbox.
- New Ganyu and Shenhe outfits will be released at a limited-time discount in the in-game store.
- Two new playable characters will join the game: Xianyun, the human form of an adept that players may have encountered in previous storylines, and Gaming, a young Wushou dancer.
- A five-star character, Xianyun is an Anemo Catalyst wielder with jumping and healing abilities. Gaming, a four-star character, is a claymore user who incorporates the Wushou arts into his combat style.
- In the two Event Wishes phases of version 4.4, the first will feature Xianyun, Gaming, and Nahida’s rerun, while the second will highlight Xiao and Yae Miko’s rerun.
The update will also introduce Chenyu Vale, an expansion of the Liyue region, characterized by majestic hills, waterfalls, flourishing villages, and mysterious stories of the adepti. Players will be able to transform into a special tent to explore previously inaccessible areas.
Additionally, new technical features such as Global Far Fog (GFF) and Gradient Tint Rock will be applied to enhance the rendering of Chenyu Vale with a touch of shan shui style. Genshin Impact is available on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, iOS, and Android, with a Switch version planned.
