Turbo Kid, the Metroidvania-style side-scrolling adventure game, will launch for PC via Steam on April 10, developer Outerminds announced. A new demo will be available on February 23.
Based on the movie of the same name, Turbo Kid promises to be a unique Metroidvania experience, fusing the nostalgia of classic games with unbridled action and pixelated gore. In this game, players will take on the role of a lone warrior on a quest to traverse a dangerous wasteland, facing a variety of enemies and challenges along the way.
The most notable feature of Turbo Kid is the inclusion of a BMX bicycle as a means of transportation and a tool for action. For the first time in a Metroidvania, players will be able to pedal through the world, accessing new areas, facing enemies, and performing bike tricks for bonuses.
The game offers a wide variety of weapons and abilities, from the obligatory machete to the Kid’s devastating Turbo Glove™, full of chaos and destruction. Players will unleash their fury on enemies, dismembering them in over-the-top spectacles of pixelated gore.
In addition to the action, Turbo Kid promises an emotional and humorous story, with extravagant characters and absurd situations. Players will make decisions that affect the course of the story, allowing for multiple playthroughs with different paths and outcomes.
For those just looking for action and challenge, the game offers an option to skip dialogue and cut scenes, allowing for an uninterrupted gaming experience.
With its combination of classic gameplay and fresh, innovative elements, Turbo Kid promises to be an exciting addition to the Metroidvania genre when it launches on Steam in April.
