Super Mario Bros. Wonder exceeds 4.3 million copies sold

Nintendo has announced in its financial results presentation for the second quarter of the fiscal year ending in March 2024 that Super Mario Bros. Wonder has achieved an impressive milestone by selling 4.3 million units in just two weeks after its launch. This achievement makes Super Mario Bros. Wonder the best-selling Super Mario title in the shortest period since sales data began to be collected for titles released for the Wii and DS onwards.

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa revealed the shocking news, stating: “Super Mario Bros. Wonder, released globally on October 20, achieved global cumulative sales of 4.3 million units in the first two weeks. This makes it the best-selling Super Mario title in the fastest period.”

Furukawa highlighted the consistent popularity of Super Mario-related titles over time, but noted that Super Mario Bros. Wonder has set a precedent by being the first completely new entry in the Super Mario series in 11 years. “This title offers amazing new 2D Mario experiences, and we believe that, together with the global excitement generated by The Super Mario Bros. movie, this has resulted in strong sales volume.”

With the game currently available for Switch, Furukawa expressed optimism about the continued performance of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, anticipating that it will continue to be an attractive option for consumers during the upcoming holiday season and beyond. Fans can look forward to enjoying this new chapter in the iconic Super Mario series as it continues to break records and captivate players around the world.
