Private Division and Moon Studios, the award-winning developers of the Ori series, have excited fans with the announcement of No Rest for the Wicked, an action and precision RPG that promises to reinvent the genre. The game will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (Steam), with an early release in Early Access for PC in Q1 2024, followed by a full release on all platforms at a later date.
No Rest for the Wicked immerses you in a world devastated by the Pestilence, an evil not seen in a thousand years. The story takes place in the year 841, with the death of King Harol and the coronation of his arrogant son, Magnus. The Pestilence returns, corrupting everything in its path, while ambitious figures like Madrigal Seline see in her the opportunity to prove themselves to her god. The plot centers on Isola Sacra, where rebel groups and the government fight for control among the ruins of the island.
Players will take on the role of a Cerim, a sacred warrior with extraordinary powers committed to defeating the Pestilence at any cost. However, the task is complicated by becoming entangled in political conflicts and land struggles. Narrative and gameplay intertwine as players seek to cleanse the land of evil and shape the destiny of the kingdom.
Thomas Mahler, co-founder and creative director of Moon Studios, expressed his excitement about contributing to the action RPG genre. After the success of Ori, the Moon Studios team feels ripe to realize their dreams and offer a new vision of the genre. The game promises tight gameplay and ambitious world building.
More information is scheduled to be revealed at the “Wicked Inside” event on March 1, 2024. This digital showcase will provide additional details on No Rest for the Wicked, and fans are eager to explore this new take on the action RPG genre.
