Alan Wake II exceeds 1.3 million units sold worldwide

Remedy Entertainment has announced that the total sales of Alan Wake II have surpassed 1.3 million units worldwide, becoming the company’s fastest-selling game to date. The game, released digitally for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via the Epic Games Store on October 27, 2023, has achieved notable success in a short period of time.

During its first month of release, Alan Wake II sold more than 50 percent more copies and more than three times as many digital copies as Control in its first four months. Remedy Entertainment has also announced that it is currently developing two paid downloadable content that will expand the story of Alan Wake II, as well as releasing updates and carrying out other activities to support the game and its community.

Remedy Entertainment CEO Tero Virtala expressed his satisfaction with the initial performance of Alan Wake II: “We are happy with the start of sales of Alan Wake II. The price of the game has remained at a high level, and the game has already recouped a significant portion of its development and marketing expenses. “We will continue to develop the game to serve existing fans and attract new players, and we hope the game continues to sell well.”

Virtala also highlighted that the successful launch of Alan Wake II has supported other projects of the company: “The successful launch of Alan Wake II has supported our other gaming projects: Condor, Control 2 and the remake of Max Payne 1 and 2 have increased the pace of development thanks to the staff released from Alan Wake II, and we expect these projects to reach their next stages of development during the first half of 2024. We now have two established franchises: Control and Alan Wake, which are linked through the Remedy Connected Universe. Growing and expanding these franchises will be a key part of our future.”
