Gearbox Software head Randy Pitchford has set expectations for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4. The game won’t run at a silky smooth 60fps like other versions and will instead run at 30fps. However, he notes that there can be some dips to the frame rate when the action heats up. Talking about the future of the franchise, Pitchford said that he would love to get a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Borderlands 3 up and running, but the team’s efforts are firmly concentrated on Borderlands 4 at the moment.
“It was important to us to not cut anything and to support cross play with other platforms,” he said in a reply to another fan. “So, no. It’ll be mostly around 30 fps, with some dips in some intense moments heavy combats or if hosting a multiplayer game in handheld mode, etc.”
“Borderlands 3 was not made for Switch 2,” Pitchford said. “I want us to get on that and see what we can do. We need some help and we need some time. Borderlands 4 is everything right now.”
