Dragon Quest franchise creator advises using auto battle to level up in the remake

Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake recently released on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 and other formats. Those of you who need to level-up your characters to defeat some of those more unmanageable monsters have been advised by the series creator Yuji Horii to use the auto battling system, though producer Masaaki Hayasaka warns against using it against some of the tougher foes you may encounter as even in minor battles the team have purposely aimed for some players to think that they are in trouble and switch over to manual battling, so always be careful.

“When you want to focus on leveling up, use the auto-battle system. For bosses and tough enemies, it might be better to take control. That might become the standard playstyle of many players,” says Horii.

Hayasaka adds, “Even in minor battles, we definitely aim for players to think that they’ll be in trouble if they get careless”.
