Japan: Nintendo increasing price of Switch repairs next month

The past 5 years have been an up and down roller-coaster for the availability of gaming hardware parts. A chip shortage infamously plagued the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S during the first few years that they had been available. Nintendo had been dealing with them too, although the Switch’s age helped keep the impacts down to a minimum.

However, the problem has cropped up again. This time, it is not because of a shortage of gaming hardware parts, but spare parts are seeing rising costs. Because of this, Nintendo has announced that they will be increasing the price of Switch repairs in Japan by 1,100 yen to what would be the equivalent of around $7.50. It will apply to all models, and it will take effect on March 26th. The price increase is only for Japan, but we’ll let you know if it occurs in western regions. For now, you can see a social media post translating Nintendo’s announcement about the matter down below.
