Those of you who were eagerly awaiting the opportunity to go hands on with the Gex Trilogy on Nintendo Switch 2 will have come away dissatisfied as the game simply does not work on the newer hardware. Limited Run Games is aware of the issue, but the patch is still pending, so it has taken steps to ask Nintendo to remove the game from the Nintendo eShop until the update is deployed. Here’s what Limited Run Games said on X.
“Nintendo updated the Switch 2 firmware last night and we’re happy to announce that this has resolved the backwards compatibility issues with the majority of our Carbon Engine titles! Since we do not have clarity on when GEX Trilogy on Switch 2 will be fixed in firmware, we submitted our own patch last week to correct the issue. Due to the Juneteenth holiday, patch approval this week is delayed, but we expect to be able to issue the patch early next week!
In the meantime, we have asked Nintendo to remove the game from the Switch 2 eShop. Thank you for your patience as we work with Nintendo to resolve these issues! Here is the full list of games that are now compatible with Switch 2 after the 20.1.5 update: Clock Tower: Rewind Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection Tomba! Special Edition River City Girls Zero A Boy and his Blob Collection Rocket Knight Adventures Shantae Bill & Ted’s Excellent Retro Collection Xtreme Sports Trip World DX Felix the Cat Rendering Ranger R-2: Rewind.”
