White Owls Inc. announces Hotel Barcelona, a parody action game

White Owls Inc. has announced Hotel Barcelona, a “2.5D slasher film parody” style action game led by Hidetaka “Swery 65” Suehiro and Goichi “Suda 51” Suda. This exciting title will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam in 2024.

Hotel Barcelona is the long-awaited collaboration between two game design legends, Swery65 and Suda51. During the Xbox digital broadcast, a never-before-seen gameplay trailer was presented for this title that promises to take players on a journey full of action and horror.

Taking influences from horror film history, this game will pit you against a variety of threats, from alien entities to AI-enhanced sharks, all while trapped in an infinite time loop filled with serial killers. Your only help will be your deceased selves from the past.

Both Swery and Suda made an appearance at the event to talk about the game. Swery shared how this unusual collaboration began, with Suda proposing the idea of working together on the fly, without prior discussion. He also revealed that he was inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s film “The Shining” for this project.

Suda explained that the two designed the initial concept together and highlighted Swery’s commitment to making it a reality. According to Suda, many times when someone talks about a project, it never comes to fruition, but Swery managed to make Hotel Barcelona a reality to give something to the fans.

This game promises to be a unique experience that combines the talents of two great minds in game design and cinematic horror. Players can expect an adventure full of action and surprises when Hotel Barcelona arrives in 2024.
