Playism and developers announce the launch of Rusted Moss, a Metroidvania with physics-based graphics

Playism and developers faxdoc, happysquared and sunnydaze to release Metroidvania game Rusted Moss with physics-based graphics for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Switch in spring 2024, along with a major update. The game was initially released for PC via Steam on April 12.

In a press release, the developers said: “We’ve been hard at work on the main (and final) content update for Rusted Moss. Although Rusted Moss won’t be getting a sequel, it sometimes feels like this main content update could very well be one! As you can see, we probably had a little too much fun making this update and will need more time to add and polish all of these new features. On the plus side, this also coincides with some exciting news, which is a console release! Thank you all for your patience and support!”

The main content update is currently in development. In a previous roadmap announcement, they revealed that the content update would be released in early to mid Q4 2023, but due to adjustments in development and adaptation, they are delaying the main update and releasing it on Steam alongside launching for consoles next year. They sincerely apologized to those who have been waiting for the latest major update and asked for your patience. The console versions of the game launching next year will include the main content update for PC and all other updates released to date.
