Insider Gaming: “Switch 2 dev kits, or some of them” don’t have 4K output

Ever since the Switch 1 Direct last week, Switch 2 info has been swirling a bunch once again. A little of it was due to things Nintendo, unintentionally or not, quietly confirmed after the Switch 1 Direct happened. Most of it, however, has been due to yet more rumors that have appeared. A lot of them are in regards to the console’s dev kits.

For example, Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson recently did an episode of the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast. There, Henderson reveals that “I heard this from one developer at GDC and also heard it separately in an email but the dev kits, or some of the dev kits, don’t have a 4K output”. It is worth noting that, if this is actually a thing, it wouldn’t automatically mean that the Switch 2 is not capable of 4K. Still, the Switch 2 Direct is in just a couple of days, so it won’t be long before we find out.
