Splatoon first launched exactly 10 years ago (28th May 2015), starting out as an unconventional new IP on Wii U, and quickly turning into one of Nintendo’s biggest franchises on Switch. To celebrate the anniversary of the iconic series, Nintendo has prepared a few festivities, including an update to the Nintendo Music app, new user icons for Nintendo Switch Online, and a free downloadable PC/mobile wallpaper. Check out more details on how Nintendo is celebrating a decade of Splatoon below.
Nintendo Music

Today’s Nintendo Music update includes an hour and a half of music from Splatoon (2015), with 47 total tracks added, including songs by the Squid Sisters, Squid Squad, Chirpy Chips, DJ Octavio, Hightide Era, Turquoise October, and more.
Nintendo Music is available now for iOS and Android devices from their respective app stores.
Nintendo Switch Online
Nintendo has announced that Switch user profile icons featuring Splatoon characters are being released for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. The first wave of icons are available starting today, with three more rolling out over the coming weeks.
For those who don’t know, icons for Nintendo Switch are fully customizable with boarders and backgrounds, which can be purchased using Platinum Points that are earned for free by completing various My Nintendo missions. These can be accessed from the dedicated Nintendo Switch Online menu option located on the bottom left of the Switch home screen.
10th Anniversary Wallpaper

A wallpaper that depicts new artwork of Splatoon characters from across the entire trilogy can now be downloaded for free from Nintendo.com. Shown above, aspect ratios for both PC or mobile devices are available. Strangely enough, a 4K version of the wallpaper was used for Nintendo’s Twitter post about it, but is not listed as a resolution option on the website.
