Aksys Games, recognized for its commitment to localizing and publishing visual novels in the West, has announced exciting news for fans of the genre. The long-awaited visual novel “The Witch of the Ihanashi” will be released this summer for PlayStation 5 and Switch under the new title “Tales from Toyotoki: Arrival of the Witch“. This Western adaptation promises to captivate players with its intriguing plot and captivating magical world.
“Tales from Toyotoki: Arrival of the Witch” made its debut in Japan on August 19, 2022, arriving first on PC through platforms such as Steam, Booth, and DLsite. The game later expanded to consoles on April 28, 2023, including releases for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch. However, according to an Aksys Games representative, there are currently no plans to release the game on more platforms in the West.
The story follows Hikaru Nishime, who travels to live with his grandfather on a remote island, only to discover that he has gone abroad. In his search for a place to stay, Hikaru encounters Lilun, an enigmatic witch who visits the island for unknown reasons. They decide to join forces and embark on a journey together, thus unleashing an exciting and magical adventure.
With a mix of fantasy and romance elements, “Tales from Toyotoki: Arrival of the Witch” promises to offer a unique experience full of mystery, magic and endearing relationships. Players will be eager to immerse themselves in this captivating world when the game arrives in the West this summer.
